Woher kommt der Name Lions Club?
Am 17. Juni 1917 trafen sich in Chicago auf Einladung von Melvin Jones verschiedene Delegierte zum Gründungstreffen von Lions Clubs International. Einziger Diskussionspunkt bei diesem Treffen war die Wahl des Namens für die neue Organisation. Melvin Jones hatte die Idee, sie „Lions“ (Löwen) zu nennen.
Warum Leo Club?
Leo ist eine Organisation für junge Menschen zwischen 16 und 31 Jahren, die Spaß haben sich sozial zu engagieren. Mit dem Motto „We Serve“ helfen Leos mit Hilfsprojekten vor Ort, wo ihre Hilfe benötigt wird.

Lions ist eine Abkürzung der englischen Begriffe „Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nations Safety“. Auf Deutsch darf man das heute interpretieren als „Freiheit des Geistes und Weisheit des Handelns zum Wohlergehen aller Länder dieser Erde“.

Es obliegt dem Club, das einzelne Mitglied entsprechend zu informieren. Der Beitrag wird von der Vertreterversammlung festgelegt und beträgt zurzeit 12,00 € je Mitglied und rotarischem Jahr.
