Warum NAT T?
IPsec mit NAT-Traversal, oft nur als NAT-Traversal oder NAT-T bezeichnet, ist ein Verfahren, das Probleme mit IPsec und Network Address Translation (NAT) behebt. Es kommt beispielsweise zum Einsatz, um mit IPsec geschützte VPNs (virtuelle private Netze) über NAT-Grenzen hinweg aufzubauen.
Was ist NAT Tabelle?
NAT (Network Address Translation) ist ein Verfahren, dass in IP-Routern eingesetzt wird, die lokale Netzwerke mit dem Internet verbinden. Damit die eingehenden Datenpakete dem lokalen Host zugeordnet werden können, speichert der Router zusätzliche die Port-Nummern der TCP-Verbindungen in einer sogenannten NAT-Tabelle.
Wie funktioniert eine NAT Tabelle?
NAT setzt dynamisch eine öffentliche IP-Adresse auf mehrere private IP-Adressen um. Jede ausgehende Verbindung wird mit IP-Adresse und Portnummer festgehalten. Anhand der Portnummer kann NAT eingehende Datenpakete einer lokalen Station zuordnen. Diese Zuordnung ist allerdings nur für kurze Zeit gültig.

However, in IP pass-through mode the signal is terminated (bridge mode signal is not terminated) at the gateway and allows the ISP to connect to the gateway with its own IP. Some gateway vendors like 2wire call IP passthrough as the DMZ Plus mode. This is because the entire network is set up as the passthrough to a DMZ node, and the untrusted Internet will be connected to a DMZ network.
Why is my IP Passthrough still not working?
Some ISP routers have already setup to make your second router work. Sometimes, even you have set IP passthrough, it still not going to work. You need to see the diagnose log. If there are a lot of Invalid IP Packets in the log from/to your Bobcat, that means there’s a firewall rule blocked the packets.
