I have all 4 Pro controller editions (black, Splatoon, Xeno, Smash), and the only one that has ever had just the slightest drift is the Smash one. It had drift right out of the box, but after using it for many hours it seems totally fine now.
Why does my controller drift when I play games?
The controller works fine on non-steam games so it’s not the controller itself. That’s usually caused by wear/damage on the thumbstick itself. They’re prone to sensor wear, which causes drift. Creating a small deadzone should fix it. What I do is open them up when this arises and clean them completely.

Yes my left stick will drift and/or not register certain movements properly. My joycons are fine, but I really need to grab some electrical contact cleaner to see if this will fix my pro. It’s incredibly frustrating to say the least. Yup, my left stick drifts. I have had one since launch and have pretty much used it extensively.
