Die Übertragungstechnik von DOCSIS ist eine Kombination aus Frequenz- und Zeitmultiplex, mit dem Kabelfernsehen und Datenübertragung in einem festgelegten Kanalraster zusammen koexistieren können. Im Downstream werden alle Daten zu allen Teilnehmern übertragen, die individuell verschlüsselt sind.
Wo ist DOCSIS 3.1 verfügbar?
Statt dem Bereich E55 bis E58 (746 bis 770 MHz) sind dort dabei nun nur noch die Kanäle E53 bis E55 (730 bis 746 MHz) mit dem Downstream in EuroDOCSIS 3.0 belegt, der Bereich über 746 MHz wird für DOCSIS 3.1 genutzt (siehe unten).
